Invisalign is a removable orthodontic appliance offered as an alternative to more traditional orthodontic solutions, such as braces. A type of clear tooth aligner, Invisalign is intended for people who don’t want a mouthful of metal braces and brackets—however effective—to interfere with their appearance and daily routines.

Invisalign was introduced in 1999 as a removable orthodontic appliance that incorporates a series of clear plastic aligners that fit comfortably over your teeth and are designed to move them gradually into the desired orthodontic position. Today, Invisalign is a leading brand of orthodontic appliance, primarily because the removable aligners (less than one millimeter thick) are designed to be more aesthetically pleasing than conventional wire-and-bracket dental braces for treating certain types of minor misaligned tooth problems. The average Invisalign treatment time is around one year, and, because the aligners are removable, you can continue brushing, flossing, and going about your day-to-day routines as usual while undergoing treatment.

Invisalign may not be appropriate for certain cases of misalignment or complex bite problems. Please speak to Dr. Godder to find out if Invisalign treatment is right for you.
